Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for an Environmental Systems Supervisor to work at our Brown Station facility in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. This is the first supervisory level in the Maryland Environmental Service water/wastewater operator job series. Supervises and assists in the operation, monitoring and maintenance of one or more water, wastewater or industrial wastewater treatment systems.

Estimated Pay Range:

$64,289.46 - $88,397.83

Minimum Requirements:

Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a state high school equivalency certificate AND satisfactory completion of four self-study courses and one management course from the California State University, Sacramento (CSUS):

  • 1. The four courses must be acceptable to the Regional Supervisor where the Environmental Systems Supervisor will be assigned. If all or additional courses are needed to meet this requirement, MES will allow 18 months for the employee to complete the required courses.

  • 2. “Manage for Success,” or an equivalent CSUS management course that is acceptable to the Maryland Environmental Service’s Training Office must also be completed for this position.

Five years of progressively responsible experience as an operator responsible for operating, monitoring and maintaining water, wastewater or industrial wastewater treatment systems. This experience must have included at least one year at these systems as a lead worker, or directing the work of other employees. Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points and a valid operator certification from the Maryland State Board of Waterworks and Waste Systems Operators for each category and class of treatment system to which the employee is assigned.
