THE POSITION:
Under general direction of the Maintenance Manager, to perform professional work involving all the process control and electrical systems at the District's Water Pollution Control Plant and pumping stations, including troubleshooting, preventative and corrective maintenance, installation, calibration and repair of electrical and instrumentation equipment.
REQUIREMENTS:
The applicant should be able to successfully perform the full duties and meet the qualifications contained in the job description for this position. Examples of duties: repair, calibrate and maintain various electronic and pneumatic process control system components; prepare plans and make modifications to existing system(s) where such modifications would be desirable for the improvement of the system(s); maintain automatic speed control equipment at the wastewater treatment plant, and various lift stations throughout the District; maintain and repair the electrical, electronic, pneumatic or hydraulic equipment throughout the treatment plant, pump stations, and the administrative buildings; perform and update electrical/instrumentation preventative maintenance duties using Computerized Maintenance Management System as required, and perform other related duties as assigned. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- Have strong technical skills in troubleshooting and repairing electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Clear communication for effectively conveying information about issues and solutions to team members and supervisors.
- Building good working relationships involves being collaborative, reliable, and respectful towards colleagues and clients.
- Knowledge of SCADA desired, but not required for the position.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: (Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and experience may be qualifying.)
Three years recent journey-level experience in electrical circuitry, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in maintaining, repairing, testing, and installing electro-mechanical metering and recording instruments. Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Two years of college level course work covering technical material necessary for this type of work is desirable.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license from the California Department of Motor Vehicles; and a DMV record which meets the District's Driving Standards. Possession of, or ability to obtain, within three years of appointment, a California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Technical Certification, Electrical/Instrumentation in Technology Grade II.

Oro Loma Sanitary District
Oro Loma Sanitary District serves a population of approximately 135,000, encompassing 13 square miles, serving the communities of San Lorenzo, Ashland, Cherryland, Fairview, portions of Castro Valley, Hayward and San Leandro. The District’s wastewater treatment plant is located off the San Francisco Bay, just to the south of San Leandro and to the north of Hayward. Easy access to the Plant is off highway 880.

BENEFITS
PERS (Public Employees’ Retirement System) – 2% at 60 for classic members; 2% at 62 for new members; highest three-year average final compensation.

There are 272 miles of sewer lines located in the District. Oro Loma collects sewage for 47,000 households and businesses, and treats approximately 12 million gallons of sewage per day, including sewage flow from Castro Valley Sanitary District.
The District treats wastewater to a secondary level through physical, biological, and chemical processes.
The District oversees trash, recycling, and organics collection services provided by a private company for 47,000 customers.
