The Rotating Equipment Technician I/II is responsible for performing tasks related to the testing, construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of electrical and mechanical systems, plant control systems, and equipment used in San Diego County Water Authority generating and pumping facilities. This includes conducting basic preventive and corrective maintenance on protection schemes, monitoring systems, metering, sensors, and other related devices. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
The ideal candidate will have practical experience working with both electrical and mechanical systems, a strong willingness to learn, and an ambition to achieve advanced certifications. This person should be self-motivated, capable of following instructions, and able to work independently. Experience with medium voltage systems, electrical switchgear maintenance, arc flash studies, sonic meter maintenance and testing, pump maintenance, pump/motor alignment, vibration analysis, and large valve systems is advantageous. The candidate must also be proficient in using computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and databases for information retrieval and recordkeeping. The role requires collaboration with various teams and contractors, along with the ability to clearly communicate technical information with appropriate detail.
Working Hours and Schedule:
Employees assigned to work at the Escondido office work a 4/10 schedule, Monday – Thursday, during normal business hours. Normal business hours are 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Employees in this classification are subject to a 24-hour call out.
