Supervises industrial mechanical maintenance staff skilled as Millwrights, Machinists, Pipefitters and Welders, in the maintenance and modification of mechanical wastewater equipment performed by Metro maintenance personnel. Supervises work of skilled and semi-skilled mechanical personnel.
Graduation from high school and five years of experience in mechanical maintenance (millwright, machinist, pipefitter welder etc.) of wastewater treatment or industrial mechanical equipment. Ability to effectively lead, organize, coordinate, facilitate and direct the work of others. Demonstrates strong technical knowledge. Proven ability to follow directions and implement/enforce policies and procedures. Good verbal and written communication skills.
Associate's degree in wastewater technology, welding and fabrication, or machine shop technology. Previous supervisory experience. Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) from the Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professional’s. Basic knowledge and experience in Windows operating systems, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Experience in employee training and safety practices with a strong record of safety awareness. Proven effectiveness in constructive conflict resolution and mediating interpersonal differences in a team environment.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and wet and humid conditions more than 2/3 of the time. The employee is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, and vibration 1/3 to 2/3 of the time; and to work in high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold and heat and risk of electrical shock less than 1/3 of the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of the job the employee is required to stand, talk or hear, and taste or smell 1/3 to 2/3 of the time. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds less than 1/3 of the time. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
