POSITION: Wastewater Collections Supervisor (WWC)

BI-WEEKLY STARTING SALARY RANGE: $1,979 - $2,374

EFFECTIVE DATE: Upon Selection

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Under the direction of the WWC Superintendent, the WWC Supervisor manages the operational and maintenance activities of the Wastewater Collections department. This position requires both field and office related activities while providing service within the Wastewater Department. The WWC department is responsible for the cleaning, repairing, inspection, and installation of the public sewer system. The system consists of over 245 miles of line which conveys wastewater from residential, commercial and industrial districts to the treatment plant. The department responsibilities also include the maintenance and repair of the storm water system.

Primary duties include the mentoring, evaluation and development of department employees; coordinating the annual budget, long term projects and work schedules; supervision of all line work which includes ensuring work is performed in compliance with all safety procedures and laws; communication with the public and emergency services about road closures, detours and collection system issues; knowledge of heavy equipment work in the repair and replacement of lines, tap inspections, and new connections; knowledge of managing and supervising construction sites. The primary duties of this position are performed in both the general office and an outdoor environment that may involve adverse weather conditions and related health and physical hazards.

The successful candidate must have the ability to supervise and lead direct subordinates; learn and communicate policies and procedures to ensure compliance; be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; observe proper safety precautions; establish effective working relationships with other employees and interact with the public in a fashion that promotes good public relations; and be in sufficient physical condition to perform heavy physical labor.

QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered for the position an applicant must have a high school education or equivalent; must reside within 10 miles of Twin Falls; and must have a Class "A" C.D.L. or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire. In addition, applicants must have a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in wastewater collections or a closely related field and Idaho Class IV Wastewater Collections license, or be eligible for licensure by the Idaho Board of Occupational Licenses.
