Starting Salary: $32,760.00 / $15.75/hr.
Pay Grade Z-151 Non-Exempt / Mandatory Testing--- FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT STATUS: Applicable.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED. Candidate must have basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills to perform required tasks. Capable of operating computer systems and applications. Ability to perform preventative maintenance and conduct minor repairs to equipment, buildings and grounds of the water treatment facility. Applicant must have knowledge of Work Zone Safety requirements. Possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class B driver license with airbrake endorsement or be able to obtain one within six (6) months of employment. Possess and maintain a Florida Department of Transportation Maintenance of Traffic Certification or obtain within one (1) year of employment.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial water meters. Check Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system and report defects. Keep basic records and enter readings using a computerized device. Respond to public complaints with resolve. Operate maintenance equipment such as tractors, riding lawn mowers, weed eaters, etc. when normal duties are complete. Perform housekeeping including pressure washing and painting. Position is subject to emergency call-outs, and must be able to work overtime including nights, weekends, holidays and standby as required. Complete other related duties as assigned.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: The selected candidate will have a background check completed, undergo drug testing, and complete a physical exam before employment. Tasks completed for this position involve regular and sustained physical exertion. Tasks may require occasional exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Possession and maintenance of a current valid Florida Class E driver license is also required before employment.
The compensation package will start at the base salary range. The City of Zephyrhills has an excellent benefit package, which includes medical, dental, life insurance, and Florida Retirement System (FRS).
