As part of the Public and Environmental Policy division, the Environmental Data Analyst is responsible for retrieving, analyzing, and interpreting data from a variety of sources. Additionally, the incumbent interprets complex numerical and spatial data sets, to develop work flows that improve efficiencies and correct gaps.

$45,353.00 - $51,589.00 (Yearly Salary)

The Environmental Data Analyst analyzes spatial datasets within ArcMap and generates maps for presentation and reports; serves as a member of the environmental management team and helps establish goals and benchmarks; remains current on regulations and recommends work flow modifications as necessary; works with management in order to support development and implementation; maintains datasets on CFPUA’s website; and generates reports in order to support CFPUA programs (CMOM, EPA, Environmental Management, and Asset management). Additionally, the incumbent trains and advises staff on the use of new software and modified processes; works on special projects as directed; implements new GIS based software and presents methods of use within the organization and to local government; audits databases and work processes in order to ensure consistency and compliance with standards; generates standard operating procedures in compliance with environmental standard for the department; collects data and develops tables and graphs for annual and quarterly management review boards; and interprets reports via statistical analysis, and provides presentations to management with proposed corrective actions and/or reports/white papers of findings.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies or Political Science, and three (3) years of work experience with sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position. Demonstrated an interest in environmental issues. Possession of or the ability to obtain a valid State of North Carolina driver’s license.

This work is typically performed while sitting or while sitting, standing, or walking. Requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the work requires feeling, fingering, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.
