SUMMARY: Skilled, specialized supervisory work in the operation of a wastewater treatment facility. Responsible for the continuous operation and maintenance of the facility on an assigned shift. Supervisor must be able to assess a situation and exercise initiative and independent judgment while responding to the circumstances. Position reports to the Wastewater Manager.

WORK ASSIGNMENT: Required to work at part of a team for 4 - 10-hour shifts (which include holidays and weekends) Depending on the assignment night shift hours will be required and shifts may rotate.

EMERGENCIES: Employees in this classification are required to work irregular hours in emergency situations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs various supervisory duties including staff performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and ensures adequate shift coverage due to unforeseen circumstances.

On assigned shift, this position is responsible for regular inspections of the wastewater treatment plant, pumping stations, and sludge processing facility.

Works with, supervises, delegates, and instructs Treatment Plant Operators, Trainees, and maintenance staff to ensure safe and efficient operation and maintenance of a variety of equipment. Equipment includes, but is not limited to screens, grit collectors, sedimentation, and other tanks, pumps of various types, chlorinators and sludge processing equipment.

Works with, supervises, delegates, and instructs Treatment Plant Operators, Trainees, and maintenance staff in the timely completion of general housekeeping duties at the facility such as sweeping and mopping floors, scraping and painting, grounds maintenance, cleanliness and safety of assigned employees' work areas.
May be required to operate fork lift.

Hiring Range: $44.990.40 to $50,000 (depending on qualifications)

Training and Experience:
-- Graduation from high school or completion of GED
-- Valid State of Florida Class "B" Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's License is required.
-- At least four (4) years certified operation experience, with one year of supervisory experience desired.
-- Certification in hazardous materials, chlorine safety, and related areas is preferred.
