Highly technical position responsible for implementing the City of Largo's Industrial Pretreatment (IP); Fats, Oil, and Grease (FOG); and/or Privately Owned Collection and Transmission Systems (POCTS) Programs. Serves as a lead in the Industrial Pretreatment Program but may be assigned lead and/or duties in any Program.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Organizes and coordinates sampling, flow-monitoring, or similar events.

Conducts flow proportional sampling events at fixed and temporary locations.

Takes appropriate action to return non-compliant permit to compliance; including drafting documents necessary to implement the full range of compliance instruments defined in ordinance and program specific enforcement response plans.

Maintains inspection records and prepares narrative and statistical reports.

Drafts and revises operating procedures governing routine activities.

Reviews Industrial User permit applications and confirms findings in the field.

Reviews POCTS and FOG permit applications, updates compliance database, and prepares permits for issuance.

Assesses and documents the condition of POCTS, and reviews POCTS sanitary sewer evaluation studies (SSES).

Coordinates and performs smoke tests of collection systems.

Training and Experience:
Associates Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or directly-related field; or combination of education, training, and equivalent, verifiable skills and work experience in environmental inspection, sampling and testing. Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

At least four (4) years experience in environmental sciences; water/wastewater treatment; environmental monitoring; industrial facility inspection; FOG management; and/or wastewater collection and transmission system inspection/maintenance.

A valid Florida drivers license or a valid license from another state for transfer within 30 days of employment.

Employees in this position must be available for "on-call" duty on a rotational basis.
