The District

The Fair Oaks Water District is a special district celebrating 100 years of service to its community of approximately 38,000 residents. The District purchases treated surface water from San Juan Water District and delivers it to approximately 14,000 residential and commercial connections. FOWD also owns and maintains six ground-water wells, 180 miles of pipeline, a 3 million-gallon water tank, a booster station, an administration building, and a facilities yard

The Position

Under general direction of Operations Manager, performs a wide variety of engineering duties related to the design, construction and project management of District capital improvement projects. Actively updates and maintains the District’s: system map, hydraulic model, construction specifications, and records related to private development. Provides other technical work in support of the operational and engineering needs of the District.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have knowledge of the principles of civil engineering as applied to water systems and facilities, public works, and related construction projects. He/She will be proficient in current computer software applications H20Net and AutoCAD and comprehend the CEQA documentation and permitting process.
Desired Qualifications:

At least four years of professional civil engineering experience, that includes documented increasing annual responsibility.
Experience in public works/municipal engineering.
California Water Distribution System Operator Grade 1 Certificate.
Any combination of training and experience may qualify if it would provide the skills, knowledge, and abilities to accomplish the job requirements.
Required Licenses/Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university or college.
Valid certificate of registration as an E.I.T. or P.E. in Civil Engineering issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
California Water Distribution System Operator Grade 1 Certificate within one-year of employment.
Valid California Driver's License.
