This is a responsible supervisory position which also requires technical expertise. Responsible for operating and maintaining the City's wastewater treatment plant. Provides supervision and direction for all Wastewater Treatment Plant operations and maintenance activities. Directs employees on day to day responsibilities. Maintains plant record keeping and reports issues to proper State commissions in a timely fashion. Tracks budget and expenditures to ensure plant is kept within budget guidelines. Track and report asset management to ensure equipment is repaired or replaced in a timely fashion. 

This is a supervisory position and reports to Utility Superintendent. The position has daily contact with other department personnel and contractors and occasional contact with the general public. 

Essential Duties:
Conducts daily chemical and lab tests, including determining chemical concentrations, taking flow and blower readings, checking meters, records data at regular intervals;
Track asset management to keep repairs on track;
Track budget and keep spending within guidelines;
Provide direction for day to day operations;
Maintain record keeping, provide reports to proper state agencies.
Calibrates lab equipment daily.
Makes chemical dilutions.
Monitors all equipment, gauges and meters at regular intervals, makes adjustments and records data.
Cleans and maintains plant equipment including filters, blowers, contact chambers, wet wells, clarifiers, and pump rooms.
Cleans, repairs and maintains facilities and grounds.
Collects samples for analysis.
Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
EQUIPMENT, MACHINES, TOOLS, AND WORK AIDS: Meters (pH, Dissolved O2, DR 3000 Spectrophoto), Backhoe, computer, self-contained breathing apparatus, lawn maintenance equipment, hand and power tools, radio. 

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND SAFETY HAZARDS: Temperature extremes from weather; sludge dust; noise from pumps and blowers; hazardous materials, contaminated body fluids
