Burgess & Niple (B&N) is a multidiscipline engineering firm serving a wide range of public and private sector clients from our offices nationwide.  B&N is currently seeking an experienced Field Technician in its Dallas, TX field office.  Position offered will be based on years of directly related experience


Requirements include:  

-High School diploma or equivalent 

-Three or more years of experience with Sanitary Sewer    Evaluation Surveys and Inflow plus Inflow/Infiltration studies

- Ability to tolerate extreme environmental conditions -- work will be performed primarily outdoors in underground manholes and sewer / wastewater lines and chambers while using SCBA

-Microsoft Office and related computer skills are essential

-Strong attention to detail and experience with QA/QC

-Valid driver’s license with good driving record and ability to travel with overnight stays

 

Preferred education/skills/experience:

-Two-year technical or college degree with course work in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Electronics, and/or Computer Science

-Current certifications for Confined Space, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), Pipeline Assessment, and Lateral/Manhole Assessment with continued ability to re-certify            

-Two years of field crew supervision

-Experience with Geographic Information System (GIS), GPS and data processing applications

-Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, drawings, maps, and construction plans

-Understanding of Wastewater Collections and Treatment Systems, Telemetry / PLC's / SCBA systems and controls, Electrical / Solar Power systems installation and operation


Major Areas of Responsibility will include:

-Physical inspection of sanitary sewer systems (smoke testing, manhole inspections, dyed water flooding, wastewater flow monitoring, lift station evaluations, and closed circuit TV (CCTV) inspection)

-Independently lead and supervise field work with direction from a Field Operations Manager

-Maintain and install pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, ultrasonic, and computer-based control and measurement systems within wastewater collection systems and telemetering stations

-Perform flow monitoring reconnaissance, installation, maintenance, removal, and data management

-Obtain precise field measurements

-Install, maintain, and adjust cellular and radio transmitters, receivers, power supplies, sensors, transducers, and transmitters and associated equipment
